Silver Linings Playbook
Opens Dec 25, 2012
Silver Linings Playbook is a delightful, touching screwball comedy about an unlikely friendship. Bradley Cooper (The Hangover)
stars as Pat, a former schoolteacher who's just emerged from eight
months in a mental institution. Determined to rebuild his life and
reunite with his estranged wife, Pat moves in with his parents (Academy Award
nominees Jacki Weaver and Robert De Niro), superstitious Philadelphia Eagles fanatics.
Life becomes even more complicated when Pat meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence of Winter's Bone and The Hunger Games),
a mysterious young woman who's battling her own issues. Tiffany offers
to help Pat reconnect with his wife but only if he does something
important for her in return. The latest film from the gifted
writer-director David O. Russell (Three Kings, The Fighter), Silver Linings Playbook is one of the year's most satisfying films.
"A crazy beaut of a comedy that brims with
generosity and manages to circumvent predictability at every turn. Silver Linings
is lit with a love that catches the viewer by surprise. We're ready for
the comedy of craziness, but the depth of compassion is the movie's
silver lining." (Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly)
