A double celebration of our cinema's 14th birthday, and a kick-off to a nine month series: DocuMemories: A True/False retrospective look back at a film from each of the past nine years of our fest. Treats courtesy of our friends at Uprise Bakery, Sparky's, Golden Barrel and Schlafly. Join us for a free screening of The King of Kong (dir. Seth Gordon, 79 min.), which played at True/False in 2007, fresh off its Slamdance premiere and whose fictional remake has been long rumored. This super-charged story revolves around two 40-something's quest to set the world record on Donkey Kong. It is probably the most delicious rivalry in documentary history. Free.
Festivities begin at 5:30pm, with Sparky's-ice-cream-Uprise-cookie-sandwiches, Schlafly beer, Golden Barrel wines and Mountain Valley spring water for all in the big theatre, mingling and shenanigans. Film begins at 6:30 with skype Q&A to follow.
